I got my first storytelling gig when I was six years old, spinning tales for retirees at the Toronto Public Library. It still amazes me how much they seemed to like what I had to say. So, if I learned anything from the experience, it’s that a captive audience is the best audience.

Since then, I’ve done stints as an academic, writer, and editor. I’ve continued to tell stories, but should confess that I’ve had to hone my skills just a bit to engage new audiences along the way.
